Formed in the fall of 2012, Tangerine is made up of sisters Marika and Miro Justad, Toby Kuhn, and Ryan Baker. Their 4-track EP, "Radical Blossom", received acclaim from the Guardian, NME, Tom, Tom Magazine, BUST, and more, and prompted festival spots at SXSW, Bumbershoot Music and Arts, the Capitol Hill Block Party, Treefort Music Festival, and more. Most recently, Tangerine released "Behemoth!", a 7-song EP that Rookie Mag called "gratifying, snappy, windows-down pop," and Vice called "...gorgeous, gold-flecked."
Tangerine fuses an eclectic blend of influences, rooting them in the common ground of a catchy, pop sensibility. The band is primarily inspired by guitar-driven rock, reminiscent of the Cure and the Pixies, while vocalist Marika Justad fuses dreamy, Mazzy Star-like vocals with 90s R&B (think Brandy). Tangerine has come a long way in a short period of time, all before releasing their debut full-length.
